The lineup of vessels to load sugar in Brazilian ports dropped to 44 on June 8, from 48 the previous week, shipping agent Williams said. In a weekly report, Williams said 31 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, down from 34 last week. In Paranagua there were seven vessels, against four the previous week. In the north-eastern port of Maceio, there were four vessels, compared with seven last week.
Cane harvesting in the centre-south, which accounts for 85 percent of national output, is in full swing. The harvest, aided by dry weather, is 72 percent ahead of last year, the Sao Paulo Cane Agroindustry Union said on Tuesday.
Santos accounted for 77 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports, while Maceio took 5 percent.
