PM to chair high level L&O meeting in couple of days: Nisar

KARACHI: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would chair a high level law and order meeting in the next few days.

This was stated by the Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, while talking to media at Governor's House here on Wednesday .

Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan was also present on the occasion.

Interior Minister said that there will be consultation with the Sindh Government about constitutional and legal aspects for initiating action regarding provocative speech of MQM leader, Altaf Hussain.

He stated that patriotism of the Urdu-speaking people cannot be doubted. The city would not be allowed to be taken hostage on one man's call.

The peace of the metropolis was the peace of the entire country, he said adding that the personnel of the Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) have rendered immense sacrifices for the people of the city and this would not be allowed to go in vain.

Chaudhry Nisar pointed out that two days ago Media Houses were attacked and attempt was made to take the city hostage.

He lauded the LEAs and the people of the city for frustrating such an attempt

Interior Minister said that it was witnessed by all that the LEAs took prompt action. Media also played a key role in this process.

He pointed out that targeted operation has not been completed as yet and that some elements still remain.

The Minister said that the Karachiites have also condemned the provocative and inflammatory remarks of Altaf Hussain.

He said that everyone is responsible for his own acts.

Chaudhry Nisar said that Altaf Hussain is a British citizen and action would be initiated by contacting the UK Government in accordance with the law.

With regard to the sealed offices of the MQM, he said that provincial government would chalk out a line of action in this regard and action would be initiated in the light of such a report.

The Minister said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would chair a high level law and order meeting in the next couple of days. All the Chief Ministers would be invited to attend this meeting, he added.
