Hungary's unemployment rate drops to 5.1pc in April-June

BUDAPEST: Hungary's three-month rolling unemployment rate fell to 5.1 percent in the April-June period from 5.5 percent in March-May, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday.

It said the number of unemployed fell to 234,100 from 250,700. The number of employed people meanwhile rose to 4.34 million from 4.31 million.

The figure for those working also includes 232,200 people employed in public works programmes as well as 116,700 people employed abroad, the KSH said.

In the same period a year earlier the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 percent.
