Steering committee for Expo 2005 meets

The second meeting of steering committee for Expo 2005 was held here under the chairmanship of Federal Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar. Chairman Export Promotion Bureau Tariq Ikram, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr Ishrat Hussain, Chief Secretary Sindh Aslam Sanjrani, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and representatives of rangers, police, and foreign affairs attended the meeting.
The minister informed that main objective of holding the exhibition was to attract the foreign buyers and in this context road show will be held in European and Middle East countries in January 2005. Moreover, foreign buyers will also be approached through the ambassadors.
Humayun Akhtar informed that he was also going abroad with the President and during visit he would certainly motivate the foreign buyers to attend Expo 2005.
During the meeting various pros & cons for holding the Expo 2005 in a well organised and in a befitting manner were discussed.
It is expected that 50 state guest will attend the Expo 2005. The next meeting of the steering committee will be held in Karachi on December 11, 2004.
