Over 4 million attend Khatm Al-Qur'an in Grand Mosque, Prophet's Mosque

ISLAMABAD: Over four million worshipers attended the completion of recitation of the Holy Qur'an (Khatm Al-Qur'an) at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet's Mosque in Madinah on the 29th night of Ramazan.

The worshipers, who attended the Khatm Al-Qur'an, included visitors, Umrah pilgrims, Saudi citizens and expatriates, Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Over two million worshipers thronged the Grand Mosque since early hours of Sunday. All the floors, passages, roof and basement were full to the brim. The rows of worshipers spilled over to all the courtyards surrounding the Grand Mosque and the roads leading to it.

The Grand Mosque Imam Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, who led the worshippers, prayed for the Muslims. He also prayed for the security and stability of all the Muslim countries, including the Kingdom.

The faithful performed their rites and acts of worship with ease, safety, comfort and peace of mind at the Grand Mosque.

Traffic flow was smooth in Makkah. There were no traffic jams or accidents despite the great number of vehicles that entered the city on this night.

Makkah Police deployed their personnel and security patrols in all the districts of Makkah and the roads leading to it so as to monitor security and help the visitors and pilgrims.

Meanwhile, over two million worshippers attended the Khatm Al-Qur'an the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah.
