SC adjourns Margallah hills stone crushing crushing case till July 20

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought current and the year-2013 satellite pictures of Margallah Hills National Park and adjourned hearing of the case till July 20.

The court also summoned concerned DPOs, SPs, SHO and Director Environment CDA on next hearing and remarked that the court would suggest actions against stone-crushing and timber mafia after reviewing the satellite images of the area.

The three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, heard the suo-moto case.

During the course of proceedings, the attorneys of Punjab, Khybar Pakhtoonkhwa and Islamabad Police submitted their separate reports.

Deputy Attorney General Sajid Ilyas Bhatti told the court that the government had banned the stone-crushing in Margallah Hills.

Later, the court sought replies from the Federation, Punjab and Khybar Pakhtoonkhwa over the application of Stone Crushers Association and adjourned hearing of the case.
