Education is a major factor for South Korea's development: VC KU

KARACHI: Pakistan and South Korea enjoys exemplary friendly bilateral ties, said Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser here Tuesday.

He stated that education is one of the major factors of the development and progress of South Korea and this is the prime reason South Korea is contributing a huge amount in the form of scholarships to the students of 25 universities in the 13 countries of Asia to the meritorious students so that they could get better and affordable education.

Students from Karachi University for POSCO Asia Fellowship are selected entirely on merit. We are thankful to POSCO Asia for providing this scholarship to our students and hoped that this practice will continue, he said while addressing at the cheque distribution ceremony of POSCO Asia Fellowship at the Campus, a University official said on Tuesday.

He added that at Karachi University awarded these scholarships to the students who are committed to achieve significance in the field of science and technology and promoting these students is the key towards development.

Incharge Financial Aid Office KU, Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Khan, said that 10 students from different faculties of KU are selected on merit and cheques of 500 dollars each will be awarded to them.

`We are highly grateful to the POSCO Asia for provision of this fellowship at KU despite shutting down their operation in the rest of the country', he added.
