Shaukat has no links with masses: Mumtaz Bhutto

30 Jun, 2004

Former Sindh chief minister and Sindh National Front (SNF) Chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto has said that prime minister-nominate Shaukat Aziz may be a financial wizard but has no link with the masses.
"No bureaucrat can run a country like Pakistan where the people have been ignored and stand deprived of security of life, property, and all other basic amenities such as water, power, jobs, education, medical treatment, etc", he said, in a statement from London, released to the press here by his secretary on Tuesday.
"In fact, the people are at the verge of revolt, and there is an urgent need of a man of masses, who is also an honest and fearless administrator to take up the reins of the government, and put out the blazing fire", he suggested.
"However, no change in the government will come unless it goes much deeper. All the corrupt and criminal elements that had made inroads not only into the government, but also the parliament are eliminated from the political field. As long as these retain their black-mailing, strength of the government, and indeed the country is doomed", said Mumtaz Bhutto.
