22 Jun, 2004

Vice-president National Party Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and member central executive committee Balochistan National Party Abdul Wali Kakar here on Monday presented themselves to police officials for arrest.
Dr Malik appeared in Gawalmandi police station, while Wali Kakar in Anti-Terrorism Court-I Quetta for handing themselves over to police officials in connection with a case registered with the Gawalmandi police against them under the Loudspeaker Act.
SHO Gawalmandi Sher Nawaz Khan Marwat had lodged the FIR in the police station in which he charged both the leaders along with a few others with delivering anti-government and anti-state speeches.
The speeches were made at a public meeting jointly organised by ARD and PONM in Quetta on June 6, 2002 in favour of government employees and teachers' demands and solution of their problems.
Others charged with the same allegation included president Labour Federation Balochistan Khan Zaman, Malik Mohammad Rafiq Awan, Malik Aman Kasi, Shamim Afridi and general secretary Jamaat-i-Islami Balochistan Abdul Mateen Akhundzada.
Both the political leaders will be produced before Judge ATC-I Shaukat Ali Rakhshani tomorrow (Tuesday) to face the trial. It is worth mentioning here that the ATC court has already sentenced both these leaders and Khan Zaman to three years imprisonment for not appearing before the court in the same case despite several notices.
