Lawyers to contest upcoming NALC polls

Lawyers from both Baltistan, Skardu, Ghanche, Siachan, Kargil districts and other sectors will contest the forthcoming elections of Northern Areas Legislative Council (NALC) in October.
Skardu Bar Association President Wazir Shakeel Ahmad and Ghanche Bar Association President Syed Tahir Ali Shah have stated d this while addressing a press conference at the Skardu Press Club on Monday.
Addressing the press conference, they alleged that current council did nothing during the five years term, but got only financial benefits and not a single law was approved.
They demanded of the President, the prime minister, Kana minister, and other respective authorities to dissolve the present NALC immediately to make sure the forthcoming elections should be free, fair, impartial otherwise the sitting members of the Council will influence in elections through their official position.
They also demanded reduction in the voters age up to 18 years like other parts of the country, and condition of graduation for the NALC candidates.
Skardu and Ghangche bar associations office-bearers also addressed the press conference and announced their full financial, political, and moral supports for their candidates in the elections.
They said in all nine constituencies of Skardu and Ghangche districts, lawyers would contest elections for NALC.
