Expressing that India holds leadership of Pakistan in the highest esteem, New Delhi on Saturday said that the remarks attributed to External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh regarding President Musharraf in an interview were taken out of context completely.
A clarification issued by official spokesman Navtaj Sarna here said, "We have seen interviews of External Affairs Minister in a certain magazine attributing remarks regarding President Musharraf to the EAM."
"I am authorised to say that these remarks have been taken out of context completely and do not reflect the well articulated views of the Dr Manmohan Singh's government."
The Spokesman further said, "We are committed to having the closest relations with ours neighbours particularly Pakistan.
"The Minister has just returned from Nepal after a highly successful visit. Contrary to the impression being created by such reports, we hold leadership of Pakistan and all our friends in the highest esteem."
