BZU allocates Rs 57.5 million for research

The university institution plays a key role in providing research-oriented studies to the governments for policy making in developed and developing countries but the Bahauddin Zakariya University has allocated just Rs 57,50,000 for research and Rs 254.557 million for salaries and allowances in the budget fiscal year 2004-05 on Tuesday.
The budget features show deficit in university affairs, and Agriculture
College and Engineering College being run under the BZU administration. The BZU administration allocated Rs 28,20,000 for renovation and repair of buildings which allocation is half of the amount for research.
While presenting the deficit budget, the BZU vice-chancellor, Dr Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry on Tuesday disclosed that total Rs 425.069 million income is expected including Rs 263.997 million from university's own resources and Rs 161.072 million grant from Higher Education Commission.
The HEC would release grant Rs 142.000 million for BZU, Rs 6.298 million for agriculture college and Rs 12.774 million for engineering college.
The deficit stands at Rs 55.420 million including Rs 6.505 million BZU deficit, Rs 11.011 million agriculture college and Rs 37.903 million engineering college deficit, said the vice chancellor.
A new bus would be purchased to facilitate students besides establishment of two new hostels and the creation of Khawaja Farid Open Theatre from next year's budget, he said.
