Over Rs 75 million fixed for PTDC projects

The Annual Plan Action Co-ordination Committee has approved Rs 75.04 million for the ongoing projects of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2004-05.
The amount has been allocated for PTDC's five ongoing projects. According to the proposed summary for the PSDP 2004-05, the PTDC had demanded Rs 215.4 million for its 13 new projects, but the Annual Plan Action Co-ordination Committee, as proposed by the priorities committee, approved only Rs 75.04 million.
According to the official documents, an amount of Rs 21.3 million has been allocated for the construction of PTDC motel at Baran Kalay (Baffar), whereas Rs 11 million for PTDC motel at Bunni (Chitral) and Rs 8.7 million for motel at Astak have been recommended by the Annual Plan Action Co-ordination Committee.
An amount of Rs 5 million has been allocated for PTDC reception unit at Chamman and Rs 29 million for resort/motel at Hawksbay, Karachi.
It has been learnt that the above projects were conceived and started in 1992-93 except Baran Kalay.
The PTDC motel projects at Bunni, Astak, Chamman and Hawksbay were stopped in 1997.
