'Freedom of information top priority'

Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Sardar Muhammad Yaqub said that government had accorded top priority to the freedom of information to the public and laws would be enacted to remove any obstacles in this regard.
He was addressing a seminar on "Freedom of Information" here on Friday organised by the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan (CRCP).
"Freedom of Information is of utmost importance for transparency and citizen-centric governance," Yaqub said. He stressed upon the community, especially local governments to focus their attention towards education, as citizens would not be able to benefit from right to be informed if they were not educated.
