28 May, 2004

The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) said its eastern market indicator (EMI) fell two cents to 790 cents a kg clean at sales on Thursday.
In Sydney, the northern indicator fell one cent to 794 c/kg, in Melbourne, the southern indicator fell two cents to 787 c/kg and in Fremantle, the western indicator was unchanged at 763 c/kg.
In Sydney, the market was mostly unchanged with the broader microns were a few cents easier, especially around 22 and 23.5 microns, while finer microns had some types firming slightly, particularly around the 19.5 micron range.
In Melbourne, 19 microns and finer lost 10 cents, the fine side of 19.5 micron gained slightly with the broad side drifting resulting in an unchanged 19.5 MPG.
The medium merino microns saw only small changes as prices were generally similar to yesterday's sale.
