Mossad launches website to recruit agents

25 May, 2004

Israel's spy agency Mossad, widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated security services in the world, has launched a web site to recruit new analysts, along with anglophone waiters and bus drivers.
"We are always seeking the best and most suitable to join us. This web site is your gateway," Mossad director Meir Dagan says in a foreword on the site, www.mossad.gov.il.
"The Mossad's mainstay is its people. They are the very heart of the Mossad. They are its prime movers."
To that end, the site offers dozens of jobs for engineers and technicians - but also advertises a position for an English-language waiter, a bus driver and a building supervisor.
The site also offers a brief history of the organisation and a description of its vision and values.
"In the course of our work we pursue justice, honesty, integrity, modesty, personal responsibility, trustworthiness, discipline and discretion," the website says.
In 2000 under former director Ephraim Halevy, Israel's spy service launched a recruitment campaign in the Israeli press, announcing: "Mossad is opening up. Not to everybody, not to many people, but to you."
