Political groups merger to prolong autocratic rule

21 May, 2004

Merger of diverse political groups into PML-Q was ridden by personal motives and to prolong the autocratic rule against the wishes of the people, and the people would rise against this unholy alliance.
Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, MNA and PML-N leader, said this while addressing PML-N workers meeting here on Thursday.
The meeting was held to evolve future course of action in the light of decisions taken at the PML-N central working committee meeting.
He further said that the rulers were afraid of the mass acceptance of the PML-N and its allied parties. This was manifested at the arrival of Shahbaz Sharif, he added.
He averred that the central working committee has not demanded fresh elections under the independent election commission without any substance but with wisdom, as the political change has become imperative in the country.
"If this change was not effected through fair and free elections, it would prove dangerous for the country," he added.
