LHC office returns Qasim's petition

21 May, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) office returned the petition filed by President PPPP, Punjab, Qasim Zia, praying re-election for the office of President of Pakistan.
The petitioner contended that General Pervez Musharraf had not adopted proper procedure and got him elected illegally and without lawful authority. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the Chief Election Commissioner to hold fresh elections for the office of the President.
The LHC office returned the petition, raising objection over it.
