Shahbaz's arrival: PML-N leaders evolve strategy to dodge security personnel

09 May, 2004

Pakistan Muslim League (N) chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and others will lead a caravan of the party leaders and workers from Rawalpindi on May 10 to accord welcome to the party president Mian Shahbaz Sharif, who announced to return on May 11 in Lahore.
Party sources said that a comprehensive strategy had been evolved to dodge the security agencies and the police. Till May 10, they added, several party leaders and active workers would go underground to avoid arrests.
More than 500 party office-bearers and workers have been taken into custody, including central information secretary Siddiqul Farooq.
Sources said the party leadership had decided that if Section-144 remained in vogue, they would reach the Lahore airport individually, instead of going there in processions.
