A Pakistani citizen identified only as Mulassam Hussein Shah has been sentenced to 39 months in jail by a court in Belgrade for human trafficking, the daily Politika reported on Saturday.
The court, in its ruling on Friday, also banned Shah for life from returning to Serbia after he is released. Four Serbians convicted with him received sentences ranging from 10 to 16 months in prison, while a sixth accused was freed after testifying against the others.
Shah headed a trafficking ring which smuggled people from Pakistan to Romania and Croatia as well as to the state of Serbia-Montenegro, Politika said. It gave no other details.
