Pakistan Crop Protection Association (PCPA), the leading organisation of local pesticide manufacturers, has demanded of the government to chalk out special plan for creating awareness among the farming community regarding proper use of the latest agriculture practices and efficient use of inputs.
Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Chairman PCPA, said here on Monday that the government must allocate sufficient funds for this purpose in the forthcoming budget.
He also suggested that an independent agricultural TV and radio channel must be launched to provide round-the-clock useful information to the 70 percent population of the country. "We can increase our agriculture production at least by 30-40 percent by educating our growers," he added.
He was of the view that extension wings of the agriculture departments have failed to educate the farmers regarding various agriculture issues.
