Work on remodelling of Punjab canals starts on April 20

The Punjab government is spending Rs 6 billion on the remodelling of canals in the province, and the work in this regard will start tomorrow.
Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-din stated this while inaugurating wheat procurement drive here at a centre on Sunday.
The Food deputy director, the district food controller, Tehsil Nazim Major Abdur Rehman (Retd) and others were also present on this occasion. He said that Jaranwala-Faisalabad Road will be made double by the end of June next on which a sum of Rs 230 million will be utilised.
The minister said the Punjab government was formulating growers-friendly policies and the exemption of Abiana for the growers of tail-ends is a proof of it.
Tehsil Nazim Jaranwala in his address of welcome highlighted the problems facing the local people.
