Sindh governor calls for persistent efforts to dispense justice

Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that meaningful efforts must continue at every level for dispensing justice to people in the province.
In this regard, he particularly emphasised the need for redressal of public complaints against government departments.
Talking to Acting Provincial Ombudsman, Ali Nawaz Bohio at Governor House, Dr Ishratul Ibad praised the performance of this institution.
He spoke for widening of its scope in the interior of Sindh to ensure accessibility of common man.
The provincial Mohtasib presented the annual report of the institution for the year 2003 to the Governor. It contains the details of performance since its inception in 1991 till 2003.
According to the report, the Mohtasib handled 86,849 complaints out of which 21,451 were approved for formal inquiry.
Of them, 19,218 were decided and relief provided in 14,275 cases which comes to 74.27 percent. 4943 applications were rejected.
According to figures of the year 2003, the Mohtasib's institution considered 7382 applications and approved 1359 for formal hearing.
Besides, 2051 applications remained under inquiry as backlog at the end of year 2002.
In the year 2003, 1177 out of 3410 applications heard were decided and relief provided in 862 cases while 315 applications were rejected.
