17 Apr, 2004

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has called upon the government not to deport Shahbaz Sharif on his arrival in the country.
The bar, in its meeting chaired by its President Ahmed Awais, expressed the resolve that it was a basic right of Shahbaz Sharif to come back to his homeland.
The meeting also resolved that the government should neither arrest Shahbaz nor deport him. Every citizen had a constitutional right to come back to his motherland and to live.
While addressing the participants of the meeting President of the Bar and other office bearers and senior members said that the bar would continue its struggle for the revival of the constitution, strengthening of democracy and protection of fundamental rights of the people of Pakistan.
They said that bar would continue its struggle against the dictatorship. They said that Supreme Court had allowed Shahbaz Sharif to come back to the country, hence government should obey the court orders.
They said that Shahbaz Sharif was facing the trial before the special court, hence government should allow him to appear before the court to explain his position.
