Government determined to promoting tourism industry: minister

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Sports, Youth Affairs and Minorities, Rais Munir Ahmad has said that the government is determined to promote tourism industry both at national and international levels.
He was speaking in a meeting with PTDC officials and regional managers here.
Rais said that Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had also given directives to take steps for the upliftment of tourism industry.
He said that the country was facing challenges after the 9/11 incident, however with the efforts of government, the situation was improved as tourist inflow increased.
For the promotion of tourism, the system of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) was being digitalised for the better management of its motels and hotels, the minister said.
Rais said officials of PTDO should play a positive role in saving the organisation from privatisation.
He stressed the need of holding meetings at managerial level for determining the effective strategy.
Managing Director, PTDC, Malik Mohammad Habib Khan, felicitated the officials recently have been promoted to Grade 16 and 19 and appreciated their positive role in PTDC.
