Quota rules: audit-monitoring cell set up at EPB

09 Apr, 2004

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has constituted an audit-monitoring cell to monitor and implement the audit reports.
The cell, headed by Qayyum M. Sayeed, will meet every month to review the current report and to monitor the implementation of the last report by the concerned association.
The cell will expedite resolution of audit objections and clear the backlog during the last quota year.
The auditors on violation of quota rules generally raise the objections by exporters or incomplete documents submitted for obtaining visa required making shipments.
In the light of audit objections, further quota dealings by an exporter are stopped and his category passbook (CPB) is not authenticated by the Textile Quota Management Department (TQMD) at the EPB.
Qayyum Sayeed said on Thursday that the cell would resolve audit objections made at the EPB level while serious objections would be referred to the Ministry of Commerce for resolution.
It may be pointed out that the textile associations had often complained about delay in resolution of audit objections, which had piled up at the EPB. Some time the delay in resolution of audit objections is from associations' side, which do not provide the required documents needed to remove the objection.
