Government to accept amendments in NSC bill: Shujaat

09 Apr, 2004

President, Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the government was willing to accept positive amendments in National Security Council (NSC) bill by the opposition parties in the National Assembly.
He said, the government accepted suggestions in the bill given by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) came into the trap of PPPP and could not move amendment in the bill and walked out, Shujaat Hussain said while speaking in PTV programme 'News Night', late Wednesday night.
He also termed it as a conspiracy against the MMA that it could not move amendment in the NSC bill.
To a question about functioning of the Parliament after the establishment of the council, he said the Parliament would function smoothly. He dispelled the impression that the NSC would become the source of dictation to democratic institutions.
He said the NSC will rather help in resolving national issues.
