Lieutenant General Rafi passes away

Lieutenant General Shah Rafi Alam (Retd) died here on Monday at the CMH, after a brief illness. He was 72.
His Namaz-i-Jinaza was held at the Army Graveyard, Race Course Ground.
President General Pervez Musharraf also attended the Namaz-i-Jinaza and paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
He said that Lieutenant General Shah Rafi Alam was a military leader of outstanding qualities and a role model for all officers to emulate.
He further said that the general officer was a man of rare traits who inspired his officers and men to follow him blindly in order to accomplish the mission.
Late Lieutenant General Shah Rafi Alam was commissioned in Armoured Corps in 1951.
He was also a recipient of Sitara-e-Jurrat for his outstanding war performance during the 1965 war.
The burial would take place at village Thethar, Bedian Road, Lahore at 10am on Tuesday. He is survived by a widow and two sons.
