Tata Motors keen to enter Pakistani market

India's leading auto-maker, Tata Motors has expressed interest in entering Pakistani market for which it plans to put in place a team to work out details.
"We should not ignore Pakistan market. We should have a team of advanced scouts", Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata said in Seoul.
The proposed team would work out modalities of entering Pakistani market as and when it gets further liberalised, he added.
Tata Motors, India's largest bus and truck manufacturer and third-largest carmaker, recently acquired failed Korean auto-maker, Deawoo's commercial vehicle unit, in Gunsan for $102 million as part of its plan to go global.
"Pakistan provides a tremendous opportunity for both cars and commercial vehicles", he said.
Tata said the group's global vision and recent take-over had been largely facilitated by the reforms introduced by the government, he said, adding: "Five or six years back we could not even think of such an acquisition as regulations would not have permitted us to do so."
Pakistani passenger car market relatively small, but gradually growing, is largely dominated by two Japanese auto-makers - Toyota and Suzuki.
