Ukraine cuts maize exports

Ukraine's maize exports fell to 660,000 tonnes in the first eight months of the 2003/04 July-June season from 692,600 tonnes in the same period a season ago, an agriculture agency said on Monday.
Agroperspectiva quoted official data as showing Ukraine had exported 170,000 tonnes of maize to Russia, 92,000 tonnes to Romania, 76,000 tonnes to Hungary, 62,000 tonnes to Belarus and other countries.
Ukraine harvested a record 6.9 million tonnes of maize in 2003 compared with 4.17 million tonnes in 2002, analysts said.
