17 Mar, 2004

Under a pilot project of the district government, an "Imani Kanda" would be installed in the district for weighing the agricultural commodities so that the farmers could be saved from the negative tactics of the exploiters.
This was revealed by the District Nazim, Chaudhry Zahid Nazir, during a meeting with the local officers of the Labour Welfare Department.
The District Nazim said that the decision of installing "Imani Kanda" was taken with a view to redressing the complaints relating to the difference in the weight shown by weighing-bridges of certain mills and markets so that the farmers could carry their agricultural produce to the mills and markets for sale after getting the same weighed from the "Imani kanda".
He said that function-wise this "Kanda" would be of highest standard and profit-free facility would be provided to the interested parties for weighing their commodities and the entire process would be very transparent.
The District Nazim called upon the officers of the Labour Department to make the campaign effective against the persons involved in negative and unhealthy practices in the weighing process of the commodities and set the weights and measures system right in Faisalabad district and take stern action against the persons found guilty.
The Executive District Officer (EDO), Community Development, Chaudhry Shabbir Ahmad; district Officer (D.O), Labour, Muhammad Aslam Javed, and other officers were also present in the meeting.
