Romanian Glass Art Exhibition

14 Mar, 2004

The embassy of Romania organised Romanian Glass Art Exhibition in connection with Jashn-e-Baharan here on Saturday.
The artists of Romania brought works such as stained glass, lamps and Gale-style items.
The old heritage of ceramics, dating from thousands of years back, is continued by contemporary designers endowed with the capacity of bring colour and light into our houses.
The most significant aspect to be mentioned about items of this exhibition is that all of them are mouth blown, hand painted and each is a unique creation. 2-6 coloured layers, separately blown shape the articles.
The work temperature is 1200-1500 C, which makes it quite difficult to check the state of the glass. Immediately after the blowing, the items are introduced in the annealing furnace in order to eliminate the interior tension.
The operation of sinking into an acid bath is repeated up to 10-15 times until obtaining the desired sculpted shape of the glass.
