The city on Saturday would enjoy the 'cricket holi season' and thousands of people have flocked to the markets to buy caps, cricket shirts, while a few have changed their television sets to watch the memorable one-day match between Pakistan and India.
The cricket match will be played at the National Stadium here on Saturday with India after a gap of 15 years. The people in the city are excited, and markets witnessed immense activities as shops are crowded with buyers.
A number of people bought green caps and T-shirts bearing the name our cricket heroes such as Shoaib Akhtar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Yousuf Yohanna, and Razzak, while several purchased Pakistani and Indian flags to cheer the players during the match.
Special arrangements have been made for the spectators, and the area of one kilometre in radius at the National Stadium here will be cordoned off. About 1,000 Rangers and 5,000 policemen would patrol the area to check any untoward incident, a high police official said.
The general public has been asked to reach the stadium two hours before the actual time of the game to avoid any mishap.
The Sindh government has already announced a public holiday in the city, while the authorities have renovated the surroundings and several side-lanes were carpeted while footpaths have been reconstructed and painted to give a new look to the area. New signboards have been installed and several hundred-flower pots have been placed.
