The sector should rather be given the status of a zero tax rated industry, said Patron of Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt in a statement here Sunday. Butt claimed that the new tax structure was complicated while additional taxes would hit infants the most as almost half of the child population in the country was already stunted.
He said the officials, who considered dry milk a luxury, were doing great disservice to the people.
Shahid Rasheed Butt called for witdrawing 17 per cent tax on dairy inputs, and 25 per cent regulatory duty on import of dry milk, saying that importers were already paying 20 per cent customs duty on milk imports.
