MMA revives foreign-funded projects: Siraj

NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has said that his government was aware of the role of local bodies representatives in solving public grievances at grassroots level that was why it contacted National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) for fixing honoraria for councillors too wherein he personally wrote letter to Danial Aziz, chairman NRB, of which positive result was expected.
Similarly MMA government has activated EIROP and other foreign-funded projects for extending training facilities to elected LG representatives to enable them serve masses in befitting manner, he added.
He was addressing Councillors Workshop at Wadudia Hall, Saidu Sharif Swat. Nazims and councillors from all over the district including lady LG representatives attended it.
District Nazim Salimur Rehman, Tehsil Nazim Rafiul Mulk, Director Social Welfare Dr Fakhrul Islam, National Project Director of EIROP Unis Javed, Principal Jamia Haqania Sangota Maulana Muhammad Munir and Union Nazim Fazal Hayat also addressed the workshop and highlighted role of LG representatives in solving public problems and importance of training them accordingly. Besides MNA Fazal Subhan, MPAs Amir Zada Khan and Muhammad Amin were also present.
Sirajul Haq regretted that past governments promoted VIP culture and public exchequer was ruthlessly plundered but welfare of masses was ignored adding that lack of capable leadership even caused downfall of our public institutions that was nothing but national tragedy.
He further revealed that 37 billion rupees out of 48 billion rupees of our budget are consumed in salaries and remaining are spent on developmental activities but all schemes thus completed later proved to be substandard that demand all of us to rethink and rectify such state of affairs as such.
Senior Minister said that the MMA has waged Jehad against corruption, mismanagement, nepotism and all other wrongs causing social imbalances, anomalies and public grievances.
He said that the authorities were then strictly directed to ensure supremacy of law and merit without heeding to any pressure, fear or favour to bring ultimately a pleasant change in our social and economic sectors wherein wholehearted support of all elected representatives was need of hour.
