02 Mar, 2004

Minister for Kashmir Affairs Aftab Sherpao has said that inquiry into the shooting in South Waziristan will be completely fair and transparent.
"Basically our objective is that the facts should come to light and that the inquiry should be impartial," the Minister told the BBC.
He said that there will be only one inquiry, adding that it will be completed within a week.
He said that the compensation would be given to the heirs of Pakistani citizens, killed in the firing.
That incident took place there. How it happened will be determined by inquiry.
The Minister said that no action could be taken unless the inquiry is completed. "Let the inquiry be conducted so that it is established how this incident took place."
Sherpao dispelled the impression that the inquiry could be influenced. "When this inquiry has been ordered by the President of Pakistan how these officials can influence it."
The Minister said that the inquiry would be impartial, adding that the inquiry will establish how this happened.
