Afghanistan backs probe into Wana killings

Afghanistan is "encouraged" by Pakistan's decision to launch an investigation into the deaths of 11 people in an anti-terrorist operation, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Monday.
"We are closely following the process of finding out what has happened in South Waziristan and what has led to the killing of 11 people," Omar Samad said, adding that it was not known how many of the dead were Afghans.
"We do know that civilians have been killed, we need to find out what their nationalities were," Samad added.
"We are encouraged by the fact that the Pakistani government at the highest level is seriously looking into the matter.... and we appreciate Musharraf's direct involvement," Samad said.
