KARACHI: Acting President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Shaikh Khalid Tawab on Thursday appreciated the significant cut in loadshedding of electricity for industries in the country.

He said that the step has helped increase production, exports and employment opportunities.

This would encourage both local and foreign investment, S.Khalid Tawab said in a statement issued by FPCCI here.

He said there had been almost zero loadshedding in the industrial zones particularly in Punjab; which had witnessed the worst loadshedding during last four years.

He highly appreciated Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif government for fulfilling its commitment to overcoming the energy crisis; inherited from the previous regime.

With improved power supply situation in the country, the industry including the SMEs and cottage industries would get boost along with

the revival of sick units. Earlier, the industrial sector was badly hit by the energy crisis.

He expressed his gratitude to Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif for his untiring efforts to provide relief to industries by adding 2665MW additional electricity in the system during the last three years.

He hoped that the present government would also take steps to completely eradicate the power crisis in the residential areas of the country so that the benefits of the socio-economic development reach the grassroots level.

FPCCI Acting President also lauded the improvement in law and order situation in the industrial areas especially in Karachi.
