NBP to help promote farm sector

National Bank of Pakistan is extending its full co-operation and guidance to the farmers and cultivators for promotion of agriculture sector in Sialkot district.
A spokesman for National Bank told Business Recorder here on Monday that the bank's regional headquarters has initiated a loaning scheme for tractors and tube-wells during 2003 and issued loans for 220 tractors and 131 turbines to the growers and farmers.
In order to introduce modern farm techniques among the farmer community, the bank had also financed for setting up an ultra modern "Green House" as a result of which, the cultivation of cucumber has been made possible in Narowal district.
The National Bank would extend its due support and assistance for tracking the agriculture sector on modern and scientific line for ensuring green revolution for attaining the food autarky.
The NBP would provide banking facilities to farmers and people in general at their doorstep, the spokesman added.
