Dental health

15 Feb, 2004

I have read a letter published on February 13, 2004 written by Mohammad Yameen regarding tooth paste a health risk and agree with the contents of the letter.
It is correct and I found a lot of tooth pastes such as Medicam, Medipaste, Soda White, English all containing steroid and many of the gutkas/sweet Supari are freely available in the market and no action has been taken by the law agencies or the PCSIR whereas reports are appearing in the newspapers daily but all vain. It seems that the Government of Pakistan and the concerned agencies are involved who keep quiet on the sensitive issue.
Those using these brands have started becoming sick with dental diseases and the effects of cancer.
That risky toothpaste and all other brands are marketed in the world after acquiring a seal of approval from the National Dental Association which ensures correct formulation of the paste/gutkas/supari, not harmful for the human being and keep manufacturing the needed standard.
The Government of Pakistan should take immediate notice of this and save the lives of human being and stop advertisement of unethical and misleading dental products.
