LHC tells Wapda officials to respect law

14 Feb, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) accepting a petition filed by a Wapda contractor Mian Anees observed that the government officials should act in accordance with the law and should not exceed their authority.
The petitioner contended that he had been providing different articles to Wapda in accordance with the law but the respondent Wapda officials were not paying his arrears.
He had approached to the federal ombudsman but failed to get relief as ombudsman while rejecting his appeal observed that the matter did not fall within his purview.
He then approached to the President of Pakistan for compensation but president had rejected his appeal without any reason.
Eventually he approached to the LHC and prayed to direct the respondent Wapda officials to solve his problem.
The court after hearing his counsel at length accepted the petition and directed the respondent officials to act in accordance with the law.
