French Consulate to reopen shortly

French Consulate will be reopened in Karachi shortly. French Consul General Jacques Bourbon said that the law and order situation in Karachi was satisfactory and the Government of France had decided to reopen its consulate here.
He made this announcement during a meeting with City Nazim Naimatullah Khan here on Tuesday.
The Nazim appreciated the decision of the French government and assured the consul general that Mohammad Ali Bogra Road on Bath Island, leading to the consulate office and other development work in its vicinity would be completed on war-footings.
Karachi DCO Mir Hussain Ali and representatives of DIG, Operations were also present on the occasion.
The Nazim also directed the DIG Office to visit the closed consulate office to assess the prospects of its immediate reopening and present their report within two days.
He also directed for installation of additional electricity poles for increased illumination on the road leading to the consulate.
He also urged the DIG, Operations to make foolproof security arrangements around the consulate.
