Brazil 2003/04 (May-April) cocoa arrivals from Bahia, other states and countries reached 2.98 million 60-kg bags by February 8, up 7.6 percent from a year ago, the Bahia Commercial Association said on Wednesday.
In a weekly report, the association said that Bahia state alone delivered 15,847 bags in the week ending February 8, compared with 12,385 bags in the same week last year.
Arrivals from other states were also slightly higher. "Arrivals from Bahia continue tapering off as foreseen, but cocoa coming in from other states showed an unexpected increase during last week," cocoa analyst Thomas Hartmann said in the report.
Temperatures ranged between 23 and 32 Celsius (73 to 90 Fahrenheit).
