Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Two ships C.V Maersk Columbus and M.T Optimus carrying containers and diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile five more ships C.V Maersk Salalah, C.V CMA CGM Amazon, M.V Alam Mutiara, M.V An Africa and M.T Atlantic Glory anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was recorded on higher side at the port at 60% on Tuesday where a total of nine ships namely, C.V Maersk Columbus, C.V Washington, M.V Diamond Sun, M.T Han Zheng, M.V Alam Mutiara, M.V Chemroad Lily, M.V Ikan Bawal, M.T Gao Cheng-3 and M.T Optimus were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, coal, projects, cargo, soya bean seeds, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 95,885 tonnes comprising 75,952 tonnes imports and 16,933 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,021 containers (TEUs)(1,752 TEUs imports & 829 TEUs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

Two ships, oil tanker Optimus and project cargo carrier Han Zheng are expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.

Five ships C.V CMA CGM Amazon, C.V Maersk Salalah, M.V Alam Mutiara, M.T Atlantic Glory and M.T Asmaa scheduled to load/offload containers, cement, chemicals and furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-4 and FOTCO respectively on Wednesday, while another containers ship Suez Canal is due to arrive at Port Qaim on Thursday.
