PTDC to construct motel and resorts on Karachi seaside

Minister of State for Minorities, Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, Rais Munir Ahmad on Sunday said tourism promotional activities would be accelerated in Sindh.
During his meeting with Dr Ishratul Ibad, Governor Sindh here on Sunday, he informed the Governor about various ongoing and planned projects of tourism and culture in Sindh.
He informed the Governor about the forthcoming projects of Pakistan Tourism Department Corporation (PTDC) including a motel at Hawk's Bay Karachi. He said work at the project was halted during the last few years due to law and order situation in the vicinity.
He said a motel would also be constructed for tourists at the beautiful seashore of Karachi.
Rais Munir Ahmad informed the Governor Sindh about the planning of an amusement park to be constructed in Karachi.
He apprised the Governor about Keenjar Lake project and other tourism promotional activities being planned in the Sindh.
The tourism minister said Keenjar Lake was the project of PTDC and it was constructed with the finances of PTDC, after which the Provincial Government took the possession of site.
The minister said PTDC would construct motel and resorts on seaside with the co-operation of the private sector.
Dr Ishratul Ibad said that tourism sector in Sindh will be given due priority. He appreciated the efforts taken by PTDC and Ministry of Tourism for promotion of tourism in the country.
The Governor suggested Ministry of Minorities, Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs to establish motels near historical sites and important tourist destinations in Sindh.
Rais Munir Ahmad, Minister of State for Minorities, Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs also had a meeting with Ali Raza, President, National Bank of Pakistan and urged the Bank should come forward for the tourism projects like Keenjar Lake, amusement park at Karachi and Railway Heritage Museum at Golra.
President National Bank of Pakistan assured the minister for full co-operation and assistance from National Bank of Pakistan for promotion of culture and tourists activities in the country.
Malik Mohammad Habib Khan, Managing Director, PTDC also accompanies the minister during the meeting.
