Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships C.V Al-Rawdah, C.V Washington, M.T Han Zheng and M.V Chemroad Lily carrying containers, project cargo phosphoric acid were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Monday.

Meanwhile another containers ships maersk columbus also arrived at outer anchorge of Port Qasim during last 24 hour.

Berth occupancy was recorded on higher side at the port 87% on Monday where a total of thirteen ships namely, C.V Al-Rawdah, C.V Washington, C.V Express Kailash, C.V Tomoko, C.V Safmarine Nyassa, MV Damond Sun, M.T Han Zheng, M.V VSG Dream, M.V Alam Mutiara, M.V Tian Shou, M.V Chemroad Lily, M.V Ikan Bawal and M.T Gao Cheng-3 were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice coal, project cargo, soya bean seeds, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out efficiently at the port on Monday where a cargo volume of 141,545 tonnes, comprising 112,349 tonnes imports and 29,196 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,931 containers (TEUs)(1,752 TEUs imports & 1,179 TEUS exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

An oil tanker Karachi sailed out sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships M.V Tian Shou, M.V Diamond Sun and C.V Washington are expected to sail on sameday afternoon.

Three ships C.V Maersk Columbus C.V CMA CGM Amazon and M.T Optimus carrying containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while another containers ship Maersk Salalah is due top arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
