Rashid calls on Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Sunday said that all segments of the society have warmly welcomed the President's thought-provoking address to the Parliament, which marked yet another milestone in the country's smooth transition towards full-fledged democracy.
He was talking to the minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, who met him at the Prime Minister House on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said that President's address to the joint parliament not only contains a comprehensive roadmap for the country's socio-economic development but also a viable strategy to meet the future challenges in the political, economic and diplomatic fields.
The Prime Minister and the Information Minister took an exception to the behaviour demonstrated by the opposition on the occasion of President's address and said that their attitude was not in conformity with the established democratic norms and principles.
The Information Minister welcomed the Prime Minister's assurance to uphold freedom of expression in the country and said that it reflects his deep and abiding commitment to democratic ideals.
The minister said that his ministry would continue to make efforts for further development of the print and electronic media.
