Unplanned flour mills creating problems: NWFP chief minister

14 Jan, 2004

NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the unplanned construction of flour mills on political grounds has created all the problems that flour mill owners were facing.
This rendered the people unemployed as well. Had these been at need specific and planned, the owners would not have been wandering from pillar to post today.
The Chief Minister was talking to a delegation from Malakand.
The delegation comprised MNA Maulana Mohammad Qasim, Maulana Shujaul Mulk, Maulana Miraj Din, Inayat-ur-Rehman, provincial minister Hafiz Akhtar Ali and MPA Abdul Razzaq Mujaddadi.
Akram Durrani said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) government in the month of Ramazan increased quota of flour mills and to give relief to the people provided Rs 40 million in this regard.
He said that the government has limited resources and cannot afford to re-open the closed flourmills.
To give relief to the millers and provide job opportunities, the chief minister said that the government has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to re-open the closed mills in phases.
