Business Recorder employee robbed of cash

The motor driver with Business Recorder newspaper, Rauf, who drives the Mercedes Benz car in which Chief Editor M.A. Zuberi usually travels, was deprived of cash and other items, including his identity card, by two armed young dacoits, riding a motorcycle, at the petrol pump near Islamia College, in New Town.
Rauf after reaching Business Recorder office in the morning shortly before noon, had gone to the petrol pump for refuelling and, after that he stopped for getting some air pumped in one of the tyres of the car, when suddenly two young men, riding a motorcycle, stopped near the car.
Brandishing guns, they forced Rauf to empty his pockets and took away his purse also in which there were various documents including his NIC and cash Rs 3,000.
A report was lodged of this robbery with the police station.
Police is investigating.
It is reported that such cases of daylight armed robbery for cash in the area are frequent and many victims do not go to the police station to register a case out of fear caused by the threats given by these armed hoodlums to their victims of not going to police otherwise face the consequences.
