FPCCI nominee removed from KPT trustees board

09 Jan, 2004

The nominee of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has been removed from the Board of Trustees of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
According to a source the removal has been ordered by the Ministry of Ports and Shipping and a notification in this connection will be issued in a day or two.
The President of FPCCI had recommended Sheikh Maqbool Ahmed as its nominee on the Board of Trustees of KPT.
He had attended one or two meetings of the board also but subsequently it was found out that he did not possess required qualifications to qualify for the position of trustee. His nomination has, therefore, been cancelled on technical grounds.
As against this the nominee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to retain his position as a trustee.
